10/10 Really impressed with ease of ordering, no hidden costs, speedy delivery and the high quality of the repurposed laptop we ordered. Was perfect for our needs. Couldn't recommend more highly and Hungry PC will be our first choice whenever we need a new device! So great to be saving all that e-waste from landfill (:

Lisa

I'm a 74 year old, who has been used to an older desk top computer which unfortunately decided to stop working. After much procrastination I saw Hungry PC advertising on Facebook and decided too purchase a laptop. The delivery was extra speedy, and the laptop arrived in pristine condition, even with some little extra goodies. I would highly recommend Hungry PC to my friends and anyone looking for a more budget friendly solution to your tech. Thanks Hungry PC keep up the good work.

Lesley

On time, on point, as described and with a little gift, great experience

Frequently Asked Questions

At Hungry PC we source quality, ex-lease business grade tech, not just old e-waste! Every unit is individually tested and cleaned, inside and out, with worn components replaced or upgraded as necessary to bring these systems a new lease on life. Used tech devices require a high level of professional servicing to ensure longevity and give you the best value possible. Our expert technicians with over 15 years experience place an extensive QA process to ensure the physical hardware is operating effectively as close to new as it can be. Often due to our processes, the upgrades we fit to these desktop and tower PCs make them function better than when they were brand new.

Why risk the problems of a completely unknown condition, pre-owned device that has never been serviced? You get much better value, longevity and certainty from a properly refurbished device.

Not all refurbished tech is the same, experience our difference and see how we grade our systems here

Every laptop we stock has been restored, tested and renewed to A Grade quality before they are offered for sale (unless otherwise stated). Any faults or major cosmetic damages are listed and specifically noted on each product description where necessary, and are sold at a discounted rate as a lower grade option for those who wish to save some more money.

Yes! Your choice of Operating System version or distribution is installed fresh with latest Security Updates and Drivers. We can load Linux at no extra cost with your order! Simply select your preferred option from the Accessories / Upgrades section and we’ll ensure your machine is fully loaded with your ideal Operating System choice. Please note: This free service will add a little extra time to process your order. As Linux is a community supported operating system, driver/software support for Linux is at your own risk.

Yes! All our laptops are covered by a 1-Year Warranty, extendable up to 36 months. In the very rare instance there was a problem with your laptop, we’re here to help. Read Warranty details here.

Get discounted repairs for life! With our commitment to sustainability, we are the first in NZ to offer our repair discount program. Simply by purchasing your laptop from Hungry PC you’ll be eligible to receive 50% off our labour charges for any servicing or repairs to this device for 2 Years. This program rewards our loyal customers the benefit of cheaper laptop repairs on any out of Warranty services required including accidental damage to the screen, etc. Extend your warranty with us and we increase this discount program for the usable lifetime of the device.

Our refurbished laptops come with a used battery (unless specified) that will still hold a charge. All batteries are individually tested and graded, we never list a laptop unless the battery holds at least a full hour of charge. The vast majority of our laptops offer a very reasonable battery life and under normal use they often will last significantly longer than when they are undergoing our real-world battery stress testing procedure.

Battery Health Definition

Tested OK / Fair – Battery holds a charge and passes our full-load stress test for at least one hour, likely to last longer depending on how you use the device, although may be showing signs of reduced capacity. Not a problem if you primarily use the laptop on a desk or have access to a power point.
Good – Battery will easily play a full HD YouTube or Netflix Movie at Normal Brightness for 2 hours or more. During less intensive tasks like Word Processing they are likely to last longer.
Excellent – Battery would typically last at least 3-4 hours of playing non-stop YouTube or Netflix movies back-to-back, and likely to last significantly longer during normal use such as web browsing.
Brand New – Battery has been replaced with a brand new one to offer its full capacity.

Due to their nature, battery life varies significantly between each unit we have in stock. We also test each laptop to perform flawlessly when connected to the power. Laptops do not require the battery to be charged whilst plugged in to the charger and can be used all day while plugged in.

Beware of the “Battery Health Percentage” Myth. With years of experience in the industry, we’ve seen countless laptops that report an 80% health rating (or greater) via software tools, but then fail to even last ten minutes during our testing procedures. Battery health reports are often the most unreliable way of judging a battery, as they are only an estimation and do not account for dead cells within the battery its self. While others rely solely on this “health rating” to sell you a laptop, we perform a fully measured charge and discharge cycle under real world loads. Our grading system gives a far more accurate picture of what you can expect when using the device, to help you make an informed decision.

We let you decide: Save money with the used, graded battery or if a longer battery life is required, simply select the new battery option with your purchase, installation and testing is included free of charge.

These machines have conquered the corporate world and are now set to elevate your tech with the best value and performance. Designed to meet the discerning needs of businesses, our ex-lease laptops have traversed corporate landscapes and are now ready to redefine your computing journey.

Just as businesses demand top-tier reliability, we’ve given these laptops a comprehensive overhaul. Every unit is meticulously examined and rigorously tested in our workshop, resulting in an impressively low failure rate. These laptops aren’t just dependable, with our upgrades and fresh configuration they are designed to outshine their original form.

Looking for exceptional value without compromising on quality? Our refurbished laptops offer the best of both worlds. By purchasing from us, you’re not only acquiring a high-caliber device but also contributing to a more sustainable future. A smart choice for your pocket and the planet!

Since buying a Refurbished Laptop can save you a lot of money and provide excellent performance, we feel they are a great idea not only for your bank balance, but also for the environment. By reducing ewaste and keeping these devices from landfill, we repurpose and renew them, to ensure they can bring a great deal of enjoyment to someone who is looking for a machine that can fit into any budget.

We strive to source the highest quality, business grade, ex-lease laptops. Instead of selling ordinary consumer grade equipment, we focus on machines that are designed for the corporate world. These laptops have higher build quality, more reliable parts, and typically more powerful specifications. After our extensive testing process, we can be sure the laptop will last the test of time. We have had many customers return to us and buy computers years after their first purchase, as they were impressed with the reliability and want to upgrade to their next, newer, fancier and faster machine.

Choosing the right cheap laptop comes down to how you plan to use it. Chromebooks run on Google’s lightweight operating system and rely heavily on the cloud, making them a solid choice if your daily routine is limited to web browsing, streaming, checking emails, and writing documents online. They start up quickly and are highly secure, with great battery life, but they cannot run standard Microsoft Windows software or handle heavy offline workloads. They are however ideal for school students and many BYOD schools specifically ask for them. In an education environment they offer an extremely affordable computing experience for students who do not need the extra capabilities of a Windows laptop.

Windows laptops offer complete freedom and flexibility, allowing you to install any traditional desktop software from Microsoft Office to specialized school or business applications. While a brand-new cheap laptop running Windows can sometimes feel slow, choosing a high-quality Windows based refurbished laptop gives you premium business-grade performance and robust multitasking for the same low price. If you want a versatile all-rounder that handles offline tasks and grows with your needs, a dependable Windows machine is the smartest choice even if it costs a little more.
